MAAE's NEW Student Arts Ambassador Award
NEW MAAE Student Arts Ambassador Award gives a Missouri high school arts student the opportunity to serve as a Student Arts Ambassador in a mini internship, by attending FY26 events promoting arts education in the State of Missouri. These include, although not limited to, meetings with US and MO legislators, museum tours, MAAE sponsored events, MCA events, MAC events, summer conferences of MMEA, MBA, MCDA, MO Thespians, MAEA, and a $75.00 award. The contest for this award is open to all Missouri high school students who participate in at least one arts program and are in good standing at their school.

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
We are now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 MAAE Student Arts Ambassador Award. Open to Missouri students age 14 and up who participate in at least one arts education program, and who are students in good standing. The winner will participate in MAAE statewide arts education initiatives of Show-Me Arts and Fine Arts Education Day as well as receive a $75 award.

REQUIREMENTS
To enter the MAAE Student Arts Ambassador Essay contest - the requirements are as follows:
1. Submit the following four documents—
A one-page resume that demonstrates work in the student’s chosen field of the arts and any arts education work the student has done.
A letter of recommendation from one of the student’s arts teachers (only one, please)
An essay not to exceed 500 words on this topic—“Public Funding in support of Missouri Arts" and/or "Why Arts Education is important in Missouri.” You may focus your paper on either arts or arts education or both. **All essay submissions will be reviewed for plagarism and AI generated content.**
A 30 second video (or less) reading the final paragraph of your essay.
The application form signed by candidate, parent(s) and school officials confirming permission to travel and miss school while attending student ambassador events.
2. The student must also register for and participate in the Show-Me Arts Summit events - April 8, 2025. Click here to View SMarts details here.
3. The award ceremony will occur in Jefferson City at the annual Fine Arts Education Day celebration on Thursday, April 9, 2025. Award winners are invited to officially receive that honor.

This contest offers student content creators the opportunity to join in our advocacy mission and display why the arts are a vital part of education at every level.

MAAE Content Creator Contest
The Missouri Alliance for Arts Education (MAAE) is looking for Content Creators dedicated to showing why it is important to have fine arts instruction in every school, for every child, every day. We want you to highlight creative skills developed through the arts in students of all ages and backgrounds. This contest offers student content creators the opportunity to join in our advocacy mission and display why the arts are a vital part of education at every level.
The content creation winners will be recognized at Fine Arts Education Day on April 9, 2025.
The winner will receive a $50 prize and be acknowledged at Fine Arts Education Day at the State Capitol on April 9, 2025. An additional prize of $50, will be awarded to the teacher of a winning student entry.
Suggested formats include personal stories of the benefits of arts education, public service announcements, news stories or music videos. Videos only need to be 10-30 seconds in length. Copyrighted material must be attributed in the video.
The submission deadline for the each contest year is January 31.
Videos may be initially submitted via googleform or a YouTube link.

Submissions received before
January 31 are eligible for awards at Fine Arts Education Day, April 9, 2025.
Those received after Feb. 1 will be eligible for consideration the following year.

Students in three categories: grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 are invited to participate in the MAAE Fine Arts Education Day Essay Contest.
Students 9-12 who participate will be also be considered to serve as a Student Arts Ambassadar at the Fine Arts Education Day 2025. A student who receives this additional honor will be notified to gather additional information, acceptance, and permissions.
A student may choose one of the following topics for the essay:
How has music, visual art, dance (if it is offered in your school as a class) or drama (theatre) influenced you or your life as a student?
Why is it important for every school to provide instruction in the arts to every child every day?

Essays should be no longer than 500 words and should be typed, double spaced, with a 12-point font using Word or a similar program. In the upper left corner, list the student name, grade level, name of fine arts teacher who submitted the entry, arts subject the teacher teaches, school name (district and building), school address and school telephone number. Each essay can be uploaded into this form document as well as a short video of the student reading the final paragraph of their essay. The deadline for submitting entries is January 31st. One winning essay will be selected from entries by students in grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. A monetary prize of $50 will be awarded to the winning student in each category and $50 will also be awarded to the sponsoring fine arts teacher in each category to be used for supplies in their fine arts classrooms. The awards will be presented at the MAAE Fine Arts Education Day at the State Capitol on April 9, 2025.
Each student’s essay is protected by copyright the moment it is created. By submitting the essay to the MAAE, the student agrees to allow MAAE to publish the essay in print and/or online. All other rights remain the property of the writer (student).
