Legislative Watch Committee

Andrea Branstetter, chair - bio

This committee examines pending legislation under consideration by Missouri's House and Senate. Throughout the legislative season from January to May they group meets weekly. They work collaboratively with conduct research, prepare position papers and deliver testimony to inform legislators about the impact of proposed legislation, through a lens focused on arts education. They also determine when a call to action for allied action may be required and work to keep individuals informed of MAAE's efforts in arts advocacy.

Much of the work of the Legislative Watch Committee can be observed under the advocacy tab, including the current advocacy agenda and the bills being monitored in the current (or most recent) legislative session.

Legislative Watch Committee members recommended by the committee chair, executive director or MAAE board chair are presented to the members of the MAAE's Executive Committee for approval.
