Amanda Davison shares her inspirations writing inclusive curriculum for a gifted 2nd grade classroom. She describes her writing and planning process for the Native American Artifacts curriculum. Mrs. Davison shares what her students are learning, as well as discoveries she made as she conducted research and wrote lessons for this unit.

5.14.24 - Picture the Music: Inspire Creativity with Jessica Ingraham
Join Jessica Ingraham, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra's Director of Education, to explore simple and fun classroom activities that introduce students to the power of music as a means for self expression and emotional regulation. Ingraham will share ideas to make the creative process less intimidating and help students build confidence to make the most of their Picture the Music experience. Picture the Music is the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra's cross-curricular arts program for students in grades K-6. Through listening to music and expressing their feelings through painting or drawing, students learn to process their emotions in new and healthy ways.

Michael leads participants through an entire lesson plan where students can be empowered to be creative, bold and communicative, while learning how to make their very own mouth puppets! Participants will learn how to adjust the lesson to address math, science, social studies, history, reading, or ANY core subject. Bring your own paper, colors and tape and watch how easy creativity can be! Michael Andrew Smith is a writer and educator for What if Puppets, where he spends his days training elementary teachers to combine arts integration techniques with their core curriculum. In addition to his work for What if Puppets, he is an author and the Editor in Chief of The Object.

Missouri's is rich in organizations dedicated to furthering a love for Jazz. During "Jazz Appreciation Month" we celebrate educational offerings from Jazz St. Louis, Jazz Alive!, the American Jazz Museum, the National Blues Museum and the Missouri Association of Jazz Educators.
