A Message of Condolence and Hope

October, 2022

The Missouri Alliance for Arts Education, has a desire to offer compassion and support to all those touched by the recent tragic events at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. We recognize that the effects are felt not only by those closest to the school, but that there is also a ripple effect felt through the larger arts and arts education community, throughout the world of education and within our society as a whole. May the support of loved ones sustain all those navigating through this difficult time.

MAAE helps to connect all those with an interest in the arts and arts education, to present a unified message of support. MAAE Unites allies from Missouri's professional arts education organizations, community arts organizations, teaching artists and arts agencies to promote high quality arts education at all levels. We facilitate and support professional development opportunities for high quality arts education. The Alliance educates and informs about issues that affect arts education. MAAE promotes arts integration as a best practice to ensure that high quality arts education experiences are a part of teaching and learning and lead to improved student achievement in all subject areas. MAAE is actively addressing issues of racism, inclusion, diversity and equity to help eliminate barriers and ensure that ALL Missourians benefit from a high quality arts education. MAAE recognizes academic excellence, excellence in artistic performance and service and celebrates accomplishments in arts education. MAAE is involved in research to further our mission and goals.
