Welcome Dulcimer Players! On behalf of the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education and the Prairie Dulcimer Club, we are pleased to invite you to the inaugural "Dulcimer Day at the Capitol," scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026 in the rotunda of the Missouri Capitol Building in Jefferson City, MO.
We encourage any dulcimer players with connections to the state of Missouri to join us for a free, fun-filled day with
Stage performances featuring both hammered and mountain dulcimer
Opportunities to meet and greet your fellow dulcimer enthusiasts from around the state
A great united jam session celebrating the rich cultural music traditions which feature these folk instruments.

Dulcimer School Teacher Workshop

MAAE and Prairie Dulcimer Club wish to encourage the next generation of dulcimer players to help keep this cultural heritage alive. Other events planned throughout Fine Arts Education Week include dulcimer school workshops and assemblies for students at local Jefferson City Schools and a schoolteacher workshop to encourage Missouri's music educators to include the dulcimer in their lessons and classwork.

11:00 am to 12:00 pm - Session 1 - Including dulcimer history, construction, folk instruments, music and community.
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm - Lunch - featuring "Hammer Dulcimer around the World" (video)
1:00 pm to 1:50 pm - Session 2 - Including Hands-on playing experiences, scales, songs, and collaborative learning.
2:00 pm to 2:50 pm - Session 3 - Including lesson planning, school presentations, CAL toolkit connections
2:50 pm to 3:00 pm - Workshop Evaluation and close
