View and Download Arts Education Research from MAAE

The Missouri Alliance for Arts Education with funding from the Missouri Arts Council and the cooperation and assistance of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education completed two studies which analyzed school data submitted by 514 districts. The first study, “Arts Education makes a Difference in Missouri Schools,” was released in March of 2010. Its follow-up study “Arts Education Still Makes a Difference in Missouri Schools,” was released in September of 2015. Both reports include an analysis of the relationships between student participation in fine arts courses (music, visual art, theatre/drama and dance) and attendance and graduation rates, disciplinary infractions, and statewide tests in language arts and mathematics in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP).
